SUN Bucks offered by DSHS Community Service Offices

Provides a one-time payment of $120 per eligible child that will be deposited onto new SUN Bucks cards and mailed beginning in early June each year to be used to purchase food, similar to SNAP. SUN Bucks do expire and are removed from the card 122 days after they are first issued. The Public Charge rule does not apply to SUN Bucks benefits and will not impact immigration status.

M-F, 8am-5pm.

Application process

Certain children will automatically qualify depending on specific school or public assistance program enrollment criteria. Children who do not automatically qualify may submit an application. Applications will be accepted through August of each year. Call for more information.

Eligibility

Students must: - Be enrolled at a Washington school that participates in the National Student Lunch Program and - Live in a household that meets NSLP income eligibility guidelines to qualify for free or reduced-price meals.
