Youth in grades K-12.  Focuses on serving children of refugees and immigrants from Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, Sudan and neighboring East African countries.

Focus Population

Provides an after-school program for East African refugee and immigrant students living in the Greater Seattle area. Services include:
  • Tutoring and homework help
  • Youth-led interest groups for increase community involvement
  • Parent advocacy to involve and educate families
  • Outreach to schools
  • Tracking of student progress and grades
  • Ongoing support and mentorship to youth
  • Special workshops and educational events
Also offers a summer program to keep students engaged in learning.
Providing organization
Horn of Africa Services
Provides information & referral as well as case management to the East African community of Greater Seattle. Offers citizenship classes, computer classes as well as cultural orientation. Operates an after-school program with homework help and a monthly legal clinic.
