Emergency shelter and transitional living which serves youth ages 7 - 17 with case management, life skills and education supports, recreational outings and focuses on housing stability and family reunification whenever possible.

Application process

Call shelter intake for prescreening over the phone (takes approximately one hour). Available 24/7. Intake process includes a thorough screening and background check.

Fee

Sliding scale; no one turned away due to inability to pay.

Eligibility

Youth ages 7-17 who are homeless or referred by the state child welfare system. Cannot serve anyone with criminal history involving arson, sex offense, assault or homicide. Performs background checks.

Friends of Youth

Friends of Youth is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in East King County. Friends of Youth delivers a comprehensive range of therapeutic services for youth, young adults and families, including behavioral health and substance use counseling, foster care, supportive and rapid rehousing, youth employment services and homeless youth services. Friends of Youth's Willows Youth Services Center in Kirkland is the only youth drop-in and overnight emergency shelter for 18-24 year olds in east King county. Friends of Youth is national accredited by the Council on Accreditation.
