After School Empowerment Programs offered at Girls Inc of the Pacific Northwest
Provides school-based empowerment programs and assertiveness education for adolescent girls. Some of the programs included: - Allies in Action which uses an interactive, peer-centered approach to change the climate of competition and hostility between girls - Friendly PEERsuasion which approaches drug abuse prevention as a peer issue, using the positive influence of young people modeling healthy behavior - Operation SMART, a program without walls, where resources from all across the community are focused on assisting girls - Economic Literacy, guiding girls to build sound economic decisions and financial stability Programs are designed to help girls feel more comfortable and capable in school by building self-esteem, collaborative learning relationships, and other important developmental assets.
