KCLS offers homework assistance in several ways.    Study Zone: Volunteer tutors provide free homework help at KCLS libraries. Provides college preparation programs for low-income, first-generation students in grades 6-12 in the Tacoma, Franklin-Pierce, and Bethel School Districts. Services include study skills development, tutoring, mentoring, college visits, assistance with college admission and financial aid, career development, cultural enrichment and SAT/ACT preparation.

Staff and trained volunteers provide distance and in-person small group instruction in reading, writing, math, High School + diploma, GED, and/ or academic skills upgrade to prepare for training, college, or work.  Students' goals and priorities are incorporated into instruction. Digital literacy and employability skills are incorporated into instruction. We offer in-person, hybrid in-person and distance, and some distance options. We serve out of school youth age 16yrs and older. If you are under 19, you must have a signed release from the HS or district where you live. We work to provide individualized study plans along with small group experiences in order for students to get a full range of support and encouragement to be on the path to their education, work, and life goals.

Youth Programs at Room One consist of both education and direct service advocacy. The education programming supports schools, service providers, and youth with comprehensive health education and teacher training, healthy relationships workshops, and leadership development. The direct service work consists of direct advocacy work with youth and young adults who are experiencing homelessness, parenting, sexual violence, and other issues related to a lack of resources.

Provides various services for community members, including food pantry, tutoring services for students K-12, ESL, basic computer skills classes, small business training and technical assistance, youth organizing (voting registration and civic engagement), Dream As A Team (activities for kids), and Un Buen Consejo, which is a Facebook livestream giving COVID-19 updates, promoting events, and has invites speakers to providing community information, every M Tu & F, 7pm. Also offers Environmental Alliance, which provides information on how to prepare homes for evacuation procedures, evacuation kits.

Offers academic and enrichment opportunities for students and their families before school, after school, and during the summer. The program's goals are to increase student academic achievements in: math, reading, English, science, students’ engagement and commitment to school, health/fitness and nutrition awareness, technology, arts, music, theater, and robotics. Also serves the families of participating students in conjunction with the school’s Action Team Partnership committees (ATP) to or their local community to create special events, family engagement nights, and educational community opportunities. Offers volunteer opportunities assisting students in grades K through 3rd with one-on-one reading at Kennewick Elementary Schools. Tutoring will be two times a week for 30 minutes and will get to follow along with one child through the year.
