Women's Health offered at Rainier Valley Community Clinic

Offers midwifery-led pregnancy care that includes visits with a midwife or physician, doulas, and lactation support. Also offers annual and as-needed care for women's issues. Serves ages teen through menopause.

Programs that utilize licensed midwives (registered or certified nurses who have received additional specialized training in maternal and child health care and the management of labor and delivery) to provide health care services for mothers and infants during pregnancy and delivery and following birth.

Midwifery

Programs that provide information and instruction concerning appropriate techniques for nursing an infant for expectant parents or new mothers.

Breastfeeding Support Programs

Programs that prescribe and/or supply temporary devices for preventing pregnancy which may include oral contraceptives (birth control pills), hormonal injections (Depo-Provera), intrauterine devices (IUDs), the patch, the sponge, cervical caps, condoms, foam, the vaginal ring and diaphragms.

Contraception

Programs that provide comprehensive primary and specialized care which focus on health issues experienced by women. Services are provided in an emotionally supportive and safe environment, and typically include health education, wellness programs and assistance navigating services. Specialized care available at women's health centers vary and may include reproductive and sexual health diagnostic and treatment services, access to abortion, cancer screening, and/or other public education programs focused on women's health.
