Provides care for children, adolescent and young adults whose gender identity is different from their sex at birth and/or who do not identify with traditional definitions of male or female.

Programs that offer hormone replacement therapy for transgender individuals who are beginning the anatomical and psychological transition to another sex and gender. The therapy involves taking estrogen (for male-to-female transition) or testosterone (for female-to-male transition) before, during, and after the surgical transition. The purpose of hormone therapy is to change the physical appearance of the individual to look like the other sex and to feel comfortable. The feminizing effects of estrogen and the masculinizing effects of testosterone may appear after the first couple of doses, though it may be several years before a person is satisfactorily transitioned.

Transgender Hormone Therapy

Programs that specialize in the treatment of adolescents, usually age 12 or 13 through 17, who have adjustment problems, behavior problems, emotional disturbance, a personality disorder or incipient mental illness. The programs may help youth troubled by low self-esteem, social isolation, peer pressure, bullying, school performance issues, truancy, anger management issues, family problems, grief and loss, sexual promiscuity, sexually transmitted infection, alcohol or drug addiction, eating disorders, oppositional and defiant behaviors, depression and anxiety, suicidal thoughts or other difficult issues.

Adolescent/Youth Counseling

Programs that prescribe medication for transgender youth in the form of injections or implants that forestalls development of secondary sex characteristics (male features such as facial hair, deep voices and Adam's apples and female features such as breast development), and slows the growth of sexual organs and the production of hormones. Puberty blockers serve the transgender community by giving future trans men and trans women more time to solidify their gender identity and a smoother transition into their desired gender identity as an adult. If a child later decides not to transition to another gender, the effects of puberty blockers can be reversed by stopping the medication. The primary risks of pubertal suppression in gender dysphoric youth include adverse effects on bone mineralization, compromised fertility, and unknown effects on brain development.

Puberty Blockers

Programs that provide emotional support, information and guidance in a variety of settings for individuals whose gender identity is not in harmony with their birth assignment, and who may have a desire to change their biological sexual characteristics to conform physically with their perception of self and want to explore their options including hormone replacement therapy, gender transition and/or reassignment through surgery.

Gender Identity Counseling

Provides routine pediatric check-ups and treatment for complex health problems.
Treats youth with many conditions, such as sickle cell disease, asthma, ADHD and obesity. Serves the varied needs of a wide range of patients. Provides services to youth who seek gender-affirming care; those born very early; and children who have a feeding tube, seizures, developmental delay or problems with more than one organ.
Providers can do physical exams your child may need to attend school, Head Start, camp and sports.

- Physical therapy, occupational therapy and sports physical therapy
- Speech therapy
- Sports medicine clinic
- Radiology – X-ray services for patients ages 0 to 21. A doctor’s referral is required.

Provides routine check-ups for children ages birth through 18 as well as treatment for complex health problems. Specialties include sickle cell disease, asthma, ADHD, obesity, gender affirming care, and children who have a feeding tube, seizures or developmental delay.

Programs that are staffed by specialists who have expertise in the study, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and conditions that are common in individuals who are in their teens.

Adolescent Medicine

Programs that are staffed by specialists who provide comprehensive, primary care outpatient services for individuals, from infancy through young adulthood, who do not require hospitalization.

Ambulatory Pediatrics

Programs that provide health screening and immunization services for infants and toddlers to ensure their physical well-being and healthy development. Preschool aged children are also eligible in some areas.
