Volunteers can provide services such as: local transportation for appointments and errands (no long distance), yard work, light housekeeping and laundry, snow shoveling, minor home repairs, wheelchair ramps (not an immediate service; if qualifications aren't met, might have to pay material out of pocket), and wood provision.
Senior Companion Program: serves one-on one with the frail elderly and other homebound persons who have difficulty completing everyday tasks. Provides companionship as they assist with grocery shopping, transportation to medical appointments, and other tasks. Volunteers are individuals over 55 years of age with a limited income, they receive a small stipend for an average of 15-20 hours of service per week.
Respite Adult Day Center in Yakima: gives frail or cognitively disabled adults the opportunity to make new friends and participate in a host of enjoyable activities in a safe and comfortable environment. A team of staff and volunteers are present to provide personalized support, encouragement and assistance to each participant. Provides some down-time to those who provide care to disabled individuals. The disabled individuals must have a memory loss situation (such as Alzheimer's, stroke, MS etc.) for the caregiver to be eligible for this program. This program works in conjunction with Aging and Long Term Care but is overseen by Catholic Charities Serving Central Washington.
