Shalom Ministries is able to turn cash donations into food for the hungry through their partnerships with Second Harvest and Northwest Food Bank, but thry also seek donations of food and supplies that the Food Banks are not able to provide. Volunteers are always needed to assist with free breakfast and dinner service.

Volunteers help others improve technology skills, return materials to the shelf, help immigrants improve English Language skills, prepare new materials for circulation and repair old materials in need of TLC.
Volunteers help the library serve the community by checking in and returning materials to the shelves, by assisting library patrons with technology questions, by tutoring people in the English language, by helping with special projects. There are occasional openings in the crew of volunteers who help mend damaged books or prepare new books for library circulation.

Senior Companion Program: serves one-on one with the frail elderly and other homebound persons who have difficulty completing everyday tasks. Provides companionship as they assist with grocery shopping, transportation to medical appointments, and other tasks. Volunteers are individuals over 55 years of age with a limited income, they receive a small stipend for an average of 15-20 hours of service per week.
Respite Adult Day Center in Yakima: gives frail or cognitively disabled adults the opportunity to make new friends and participate in a host of enjoyable activities in a safe and comfortable environment. A team of staff and volunteers are present to provide personalized support, encouragement and assistance to each participant. Provides some down-time to those who provide care to disabled individuals. The disabled individuals must have a memory loss situation (such as Alzheimer's, stroke, MS etc.) for the caregiver to be eligible for this program. This program works in conjunction with Aging and Long Term Care but is overseen by Catholic Charities Serving Central Washington.
