Description: Juvenile Court Services provides opportunities for youth and families to receive supportive interventions and programming with the goal of eliminating future involvement in the legal system. Youth and Family Centered​We provide early assessment and interventions, as needed, that are culturally responsive and trauma-informed to address each individual youth and family’s unique circumstances. ​We collaborate with youth, families, and community to promote and support positive youth development. ​Community Partnership​s We connect youth to community-based opportunities and resources to develop their skills and meet their needs. ​We are transparent and actively seek feedback from community to support improvement of our operations, approaches, and services. ​We work together to promote a safe community and challenge racial and ethnic disparities in the legal system. ​​Balanced and Restorative Justice ​We partner with community to offer innovative, restorative, and timely interventions that can limit or replace the experience of formal court, detention and criminal charging. ​We engage youth to take responsibility in meaningful ways that address their needs and the needs of those harmed by their actions. ​We recognize and respond to victims and create pathways for intervention, restoration, and behavior change.

TeamChild’s legal team works to secure community-based services, help youth access appropriate education, healthcare, mental/behavioral health resources, safe and stable housing, navigate school discipline, and works with youth incarcerated in the Juvenile Rehabilitation (JR) system. Advocacy efforts focus on education and school-related issues such as enrollment, school discipline and access to special education; securing safe and stable housing for youth; and helping clients access public benefits, including health care, mental health services, DDA and other support. Advocacy also includes post-conviction relief, including records sealing, restitution modifications, and assisting youth with reentry supports when returning to community from incarceration.

Youth outreach workers work with disconnected youths (12-24 years old) who are homeless, runaway, or high-risk.
Youth outreach workers work with disconnected youth (12-24 years old) who are homeless, runaway, or high-risk. Â Workers help connect the youth with needed services such as shelter, food, clothing, health care, employment, parenting classes, training, counseling, support groups, and alternative schools. Advocates provide case management and follow-up services at an individualized pace. May also offer assistance in preparing and filing CHINS petitions for emancipation of minors.

Hosts a free monthly legal clinic with a focus on LGBTQ issues; provides information in a variety of areas including family law, debt and bankruptcy, divorce/dissolution, employment discrimination, and transgender legal issues.
Hosts a legal clinic specifically designed to address the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals and couples. This clinic is run by QLaw Foundation in partnership with the King County Bar Association.
The clinic is open to everyone regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
At the clinic, an attorney will meet with clients for 30 minutes and provide individualized legal advice and information.
Clinic attorneys will answer questions and provide information in a variety of areas including family law, immigration, debt and bankruptcy, divorce/dissolution, employment discrimination, and transgender legal issues.

- provide advice about whether one should file a case, or what actions they should take in the case;
- words to put in a form;
- advise anyone on what to say in court;
- speculate about what decision the judge might make or what sentence the judge might impose.

Clinic is open to all, but particular focus is on providing culturally-informed legal services in a safe and welcoming environment to individuals who identify as African American or Black. This clinic is staffed primarily by attorneys of color.
Clinic attorneys can:

Provides a wide range of services for youth 12-24 years of age. Services focus on housing support, mental health, education, parent support, healthcare, criminal/legal support, and advocacy services.
- Advocates can help access services based on unique situation & need, such as transportation, phone cards, obtaining a State ID, food banks, DSHS benefit applications, and job search.
- Housing support may include housing search, referral to a shelter, temporary housing, or rapid/immediate housing, depending on the client's circumstances.
- Refers to Okanogan Behavioral Healthcare or online counseling for mental health support.
- Connects clients to criminal/legal support and services, such as defense attorneys, Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, or Northwest Justice Project.
- Parenting support includes baby items, free books, referrals to child services, and more.
- Bilingual tutoring is available on site.

Legal Services and Advocacy for Youth Offered by TeamChild in Pierce County
Provides advocacy and access to community-based services for youth, ages 12 through 24.
Staff will need to speak with the youth directly.
Provides civil legal advocacy to youth primarily between 12-24 years old. TeamChild’s legal team works to secure community-based services, help youth access appropriate education, healthcare, mental/behavioral health resources, safe and stable housing, navigate school discipline, and works with youth incarcerated in the Juvenile Rehabilitation (JR) system. Advocacy efforts focus on education and school-related issues such as enrollment, school discipline and access to special education; securing safe and stable housing for youth; and helping clients access public benefits, including health care, mental health services, DDA and other support. Advocacy also includes post-conviction relief, including records sealing, restitution modifications, and assisting youth with reentry supports when returning to community from incarceration.

Chinese Information and Service Center, Asian Bar Association of Washington, and Asian Counseling and Referral Service partner with the King County Bar Association to provide a free legal clinic.
Pro bono attorneys work with staff and volunteer interpreters to give consultation and legal advice around family law, immigration law, landlord-tenant disputes, employment law, and other areas. As of 9/2024, most consults are virtual but in-person appointments may be available if needed (more information provided to clients during intake phone call). Call (206) 957-8544 for an appointment.
